LEBANON IS IN CRISIS

The escalating conflict in Lebanon has resulted in a reported one million people being directly affected or displaced.

Many have suffered injuries and lost family members. Many more have lost homes, including thousands of Syrian refugees who have been displaced yet again. All are grappling with fear and uncertainty.

Regardless of our political leanings, it is clear that this is a humanitarian crisis.

Habibi International is responding

We aim to raise funds over the month of October to support emergency relief efforts through local partners situated in the heart of Beirut.

They have already started providing shelter, mattresses, food, baby supplies, and medical care. But the needs are great and increasing rapidly, and resources in Lebanon are limited.

Will you join in with us through your giving?

Please designate giving to our Love and Relief Fund. 100% of your giving towards the Fund for the month of October 2024 will go specifically to this emergency response.

Continue to watch this space, as we provide updates on the relief efforts below.

OCTOBER 9TH, 2024

Our Lebanon partner is currently sheltering, feeding, and providing essential care to hundreds of families. In addition to the thousands of nutritious meals and snacks they have provided, they have also distributed critical supplies to displaced families, including:
- More than 4,000 hot meals and dietary portions.
- 254 food and hygiene packages, containing essentials like adult diapers, wipes, and hygiene products.
- 891 mattresses and 847 blankets, ensuring that families have basic comfort.
- 112 baby care packages, including diapers for 99 babies and milk for 13 families.
- 66 clothing packages for families in need.

Their team, spread across multiple locations, is also collaborating with other churches and organizations to guide people along mountainous roads to public school shelters. Special care is being taken to ensure that migrant workers and those with no shelter or support are directed to safe spaces. We are deeply thankful for your willingness to stand with us in prayer and support, lifting up Lebanon and its people during this time of immense hardship as the need continues to grow

FIELD UPDATE #1 FROM WILLY TAN, HABIBI INTERNATIONAL CEO
Today was a long but productive day. I left home at 9am and got home at 9pm. I went to our local partner's community center in a poor neighborhood where many of the displaced are currently living. I spent the whole morning there. They took me to visit three displaced families. In one house, I saw about 25 people squeezed into one small apartment. The condition was very bad. Many of the displaced are tired and worn out. One woman broke down in front of us as she was worried her four kids are not able to go to school for a while. But God's love is still at work in Lebanon as people who have previously been unwelcoming to one another have started to be more open to mutual support in this time of crisis.

FIELD UPDATE #2 FROM WILLY TAN, HABIBI INTERNATIONAL CEO
Two nights ago, as I was arriving, there was bombing in a neighborhood some distance away from the airport. It was joked that they were welcoming me to Beirut. Until now, they still can’t confirm the target they were going after has been killed but it is confirmed that there were 22 dead and 117 wounded as a result of this bombing. For the past two nights, there has been no bombing in the city of Beirut. Now the joke is because they knew I am here, they stopped bombing. Who knows whether they will resume bombing tonight? During the day, you can see drones and fighter jets hovering over the sky of Beirut. The locals have sadly gotten used to the sight and the sound.
